About 72/144 Hours Visa Free Transit
The 72/144 Hours Visa Free Transit policy is a measure implemented by the Chinese government to facilitate the entry and exit of foreigners, promoting international exchange and cooperation. Under this policy, citizens from specific countries who are transiting through China with valid international travel documents and a confirmed onward ticket to a third country (or region) within 144 hours (6 days) can stay in designated cities without a visa. During this period, they can engage in tourism, temporary business visits, and other short-term activities.
Specifically, this policy applies to citizens of 54 countries, including but not limited to Schengen Agreement countries in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The cities where the 144-hour visa-free transit policy is implemented include major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, and others, totaling 20 cities.
